Today, the 60 day warning period begins for speed cameras along the southern portion of Route 13. The purpose of this warning period is to start educating drivers to slow down before ticketing begins on 10/30. 
 
Speeding is the number one contributing factor in crashes that result in death or injury in Philadelphia. Hear from OTIS’s Chris Puchalsky, who is raising his family along Route 13, about why this makes Philadelphia safer for everyone. 
 
But don’t just take our word for it: on Roosevelt Boulevard,, Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) has cut speeding by 95% and has saved one life every month. Together with The PPA , we’re bringing that approach to Route 13.

Philadelphia has already had a jam packed summer - and the next few weekends is no exception! This weekend, we're welcoming the Philadelphia Cycling Classic to MLK Drive, which will impact our usual weekend closure schedule. 

While MLK Drive will be closed to cars on Saturday 8/29 like usual, it will be closed to public recreation so cyclists can complete Time Trials for the race. The road will be open to everyone for recreational use beginning at 12:30 pm

On Sunday, MLK Drive will be open for vehicular traffic to provide congestion relief from other street closures. Don't worry - the side path will remain open for recreational use during regular hours. 

We understand that keeping MLK Drive open to cars this Sunday is frustrating, and we know that the seasonal closures of MLK Drive have been very popular. But, we're excited that next weekend, MLK Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic an additional day (Monday 9/7) in observance of the holiday. We appreciate everyone understanding, and look forward to cheering on cyclists across the City this weekend!

Safe Routes Philly is Philadelphia's youth pedestrian and bicycle safety education program.

We are committed to ensuring our youngest Philadelphians can travel safely to and from school.

Safe Routes Philly offers educational opportunities for grades K-12 and programming to encourage safe walking and biking.

Big changes are coming to ISEPTAPHILLY's bus network this weekend - and they areBig changes are coming to SEPTA's bus network this weekend - and they are going to make getting around Philadelphia even easier.

The first phase of the New Bus Network, beginning Sunday, August 23, will update routes, improve frequency and make navigating the system easier. Routes will reflect how Philadelphians use busses in 2026: to get to jobs, go to school, and visit loved ones. This has been a longtime goal of the City and SEPTA, and we're just getting started.
