For much of our nationโ€™s history, the right to vote was denied to Black Americans, Native Americans, and many other communities because of discrimination and exclusion.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was a landmark step toward changing that.

Sixty-one years later, voting rights continue to face threats under the current administration. We must continue defending every eligible Americanโ€™s freedom to vote.

Democracy works best when everyone can participate.

Today is World Nature Conservation Day. ๐ŸŒฟ

From the Santa Monica Mountains to our iconic coastline, Californiaโ€™s natural landscapes are worth protecting for future generations.

Conservation means preserving the places we love while ensuring every Californian can enjoy them for years to come.

Today marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Actโ€”a landmark civil rights law that transformed what accessibility and inclusion look like in America.

Thirty-six years later, the ADA continues to open doors, expand opportunity, and remind us that disability rights are civil rights.

Swipe through to learn more about the history of the ADA, its impact, and why its promise is still as important today.

Happy ! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Independent retailers are the backbone of our neighborhoods, creating jobs, filling vacant storefronts, and bringing life to our commercial corridors.

Thatโ€™s why I authored , ย a commonsense bill to reduce unnecessary permitting delays so retailers can open, expand, and invest in their communitiesโ€”without compromising health and safety.

When our local businesses thrive, our communities thrive.

Happy Fourth of July! โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

For 250 years, generations of Americansโ€”those born here and those who came here seeking a better lifeโ€”have built, strengthened and shaped our nation.

As we celebrate this historic anniversary, may we continue working together to fulfill our countryโ€™s promise of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.

Wishing you a safe and happy Independence Day! ๐ŸŽ†

Transgender young people deserve dignity, respect, and the opportunity to thrive.

I strongly disagree with todayโ€™s Supreme Court decision. We can support girlsโ€™ and womenโ€™s sports while also standing up for the rights and humanity of transgender youth.

Real equality means investing in opportunityโ€”for EVERY young person.

Today is National HIV Testing Day.โ€จ
Knowing your status is one of the most important steps you can take for your health. HIV testing is quick, confidential, and can connect people to treatment that allows them to live long, healthy lives.โ€จ
Last year, we took an important step forward when my bill, AB 309, was signed into law, strengthening Californiaโ€™s HIV and hepatitis prevention efforts and expanding access to lifesaving care.โ€จ
While weโ€™ve made tremendous progress, our work isnโ€™t over. Together, we can continue reducing stigma, expanding access to testing and treatment, and building a healthier California.โ€จโ€จ

Join me for a virtual town hall featuring Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis on Wednesday, June 24, at 5:30 p.m. I'll provide an update on the 2026 legislative session, and we will discuss Santa Monica's efforts to complete a new Local Coastal Program (LCP) and the legislation supporting that work.
