Attorneys have a responsibility to protect their clientsโ€”not exploit them.

strengthens accountability for unlawful client solicitation, protects whistleblowers who report misconduct and establishes safeguards against abusive financial arrangements between attorneys and their clients.

When attorneys take advantage of vulnerable people, they harm their clients and undermine trust in the entire legal system. Californians deserve better.

CA made a commitment to bring film and television productionโ€”and the thousands of good-paying jobs that come with itโ€”โ€”back home, with the California Film & TV Jobs Act, authored by me and Sen. Ben Allen last year.

When an unintended provision in this yearโ€™s budget threatened to undermine that progress, Senator Ben Allen and I worked with labor, industry and our legislative colleagues to advance SB 186.

The bill protects key elements of Californiaโ€™s Film and Television Tax Credit and provides greater certainty for productions and workers. This is an important step, but there is more work ahead to ensure California remains the global home of entertainment.

My bill โ€” , Removing Barriers to Rare Disease Care โ€” has received final approval from the Legislature and is headed to the Governorโ€™s desk!

For Californians living with rare diseases, delays in accessing treatment can have serious consequences. AB 1887 helps cut through unnecessary insurance barriers by accelerating prior authorization for FDA-approved rare disease treatmentsโ€”helping patients get the lifesaving and life-changing care they need, when they need it.
