The District Court’s ruling validates what we’ve known all along: Trump’s farm worker pay cut is illegal. Assembly Bill 2646 exercises California’s state authority to ensure that farmworker wages are protected from illegal cuts.

AB 2646 passed through the Legislature and is headed to the Governor’s desk.

I wrote AB 1854 to protect California doctors and patients from out-of-state efforts to reach across our borders and punish people for accessing or providing reproductive healthcare that is legal here.

California has enshrined the right to abortion in our Constitution- we’re not going back.

Complex rehab technology (CRT) is often essential for people with disabilities to get around, eat, work and even communicate. We introduced bills this year and last to ensure that when a wheelchair part breaks down, disabled people aren’t saddled with hundreds of dollars in repair costs and weeks of delays. Without access to a functioning chair, individuals can become bedridden, increasing their risk of medical complications and hospitalization while also negatively affecting their overall quality of life.

We are pleased to share that as of August 1st, the Department of Healthcare Services has made changes that will ensure coverage for Medi-Cal beneficiaries with disabilities. A tremendous thank you to the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) and National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology for your partnership and help in making this happen.

I joined prosecutors and former prosecutors from around the country in an open letter to the Administration with a simple request: stop deporting crime victims with U and T visas pending and stop targeting vulnerable children, isolating them, and stripping away their legal protections.

“By arresting and deporting survivors who have come forward and applied for protection, the Administration not only risks endangering the survivor and their family members, but the Government also sends a chilling message to the larger community: don’t call the police, don’t report crime – you or your loved ones will get deported. This undermines public safety for us all.”
