Today, the Ministry participated in discussions on the "Promotion of Electric Mobility in SICA Countries" initiative, a regional project funded through the cooperation of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The project supports the development of electric mobility across the SICA region by promoting the adoption of electric buses, expanding charging infrastructure, and strengthening technical and institutional capacity.

As part of this initiative, feasibility studies will be conducted to assess the implementation of electric buses and charging infrastructure in Belize, helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while improving energy efficiency and modernizing the country's public transportation system.

The Ministry was represented by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Leroy Almendarez, whose participation reaffirmed the Government of Belize's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, reducing emissions, and fostering regional collaboration for a more resilient and environmentally responsible transport sector.

The Belize Port Authority maintains a branch office at the Punta Gorda Port to support the oversight of port and maritime operations in southern Belize.

The office assists with vessel and facility inspections, regulatory compliance, navigational safety, and coordination with port users to help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the port.

Celebrating Belize Through Every Stamp

The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics, in collaboration with the Belize Postal Service, proudly hosted the official launch of the 2026–2030 Belize Definitive Stamp Collection, themed "Celebrating Belize."

The ceremony marked the unveiling of a new series of definitive stamps that showcase Belize's rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, national symbols, and natural beauty. More than just postage, these stamps serve as ambassadors for our nation, carrying the story of Belize to destinations around the world while preserving our identity through one of the world's oldest and most enduring forms of communication.

During the ceremony, Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics, remarked:

"Today, we celebrate much more than the release of eleven new postage stamps. We celebrate the people, traditions, milestones, achievements, and shared experiences that define us as Belizeans."

The event also featured welcome remarks by Dr. Marsha Price, Postmaster General, who highlighted the enduring role of definitive stamps in preserving a nation's identity and connecting communities across generations.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, members of the philatelic community, invited guests, and everyone who joined us in celebrating this important milestone.

The 2026–2030 Belize Definitive Stamp Collection is a proud celebration of our people, our heritage, and the beauty that makes Belize truly unique.

Electricity Strategic Planning Meeting

Belize City - July 15th, 2026

Today, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics convened an Electricity Strategic Planning Meeting, bringing together Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) and other key energy sector partners to discuss the future of Belize's electricity supply.

The meeting focused on reviewing the current state of the electricity sector, assessing near- and long-term generation capacity, identifying future supply needs, and developing collaborative solutions to address projected energy demands.

Through continued partnership and strategic planning, the Ministry and its stakeholders remain committed to strengthening Belize's energy sector, enhancing energy security, and ensuring a reliable, resilient, and sustainable electricity supply for all Belizeans.
