We are deeply saddened by the tragic fire in a Bangkok eatery that took the lives of at least 27 people and injured many more. The Czech Embassy in Bangkok offers its sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones and stands with the community during this difficult time. President Petr Pavel has also sent his condolences, expressing solidarity with everyone affected.

พิธีเปิดได้รับเกียรติจากนายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล นายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมหาดไทย เป็นประธาน พร้อมเป็นสักขีพยานในพิธีลงนามบันทึกความเข้าใจ (MOU) ว่าด้วยความร่วมมือด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี วิจัย และนวัตกรรม เพื่อความมั่นคงและการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมป้องกันประเทศ

H.E. Mr. Pavel Pitel, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Thailand, attended the opening ceremony of the Thailand Defence Industry Exhibition 2026 (THAIDEF-EX 2026), held at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence in Nonthaburi on 8th July 2026.

The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Thailand, who also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in science, technology, research, and innovation to strengthen national security and support the development of Thailand’s defence industry.

THAIDEF-EX 2026 serves as an important platform for government agencies, industry leaders, academic institutions, and international partners to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and promote innovation in the defence sector.

Karolína Muchová overcame American Coco Gauff 6–2, 1–6, 7–6 in a thrilling semifinal to book her place in the Grand Slam title match. She will face Linda Nosková, who defeated Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk 6–4, 6–4 in the other semifinal. The final will be played on Saturday.

🌍🤝 Building Bridges Through Cultural Exchange
Today, we were delighted to welcome representatives of AFS Intercultural Programs Thailand and two inspiring AFS alumni, Supanat and Prodpran , to the Embassy. It was a pleasure for H.E. Mr. Pavel Pitel and the Embassy team to hear firsthand about their experiences studying and living in Czechia.

Programs like AFS play a vital role in helping young people discover different cultures, broaden their horizons, and develop the skills needed to thrive in an interconnected world. Cultural exchange fosters empathy, mutual understanding, and lifelong international friendships.

We sincerely thank AFS Thailand for its outstanding work in promoting intercultural learning and global citizenship. We also appreciate Supanat and Prodpran for sharing their inspiring stories and for their willingness to support future Embassy activities related to their Czech experience.
