🚌 School buses are back on Delaware roads, and keeping students safe is a responsibility we all share.

As students head back to classrooms, drivers should watch for flashing lights, give buses plenty of space and know when Delaware law requires them to stop.

Every bus carries students who deserve to arrive at school ready to learn and return home safely at the end of the day.

Slow down. Stay alert. Stop for the bus.

Because keeping students safe starts with all of us. 🛑

Kent County Leadership Tours Dover Air Force Base

Last Friday, July 24, Kent County Levy Court Commissioners, the County Administrator, and the Director of Economic Development were welcomed to Dover Air Force Base for a mission briefing and tour.

Colonel Jamil Musa and Chief Master Sergeant Elijah Edwards led a discussion on the mission, structure, and priorities of the 436th Airlift Wing, joined by partner units including the 512th Airlift Wing and the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations and Armed Forces Medical Examiner System — highlighting the vital support Delaware and Kent County provide to deliver mission capability for our military.

The visit continued at the Military and Family Readiness Center, where consultants shared resources available to service members and their families, including newcomer orientation, job fairs, and SkillBridge career transition programs — with a special shoutout to the local agencies who partner in these efforts.

The tour wrapped up at the isochronal dock, where the group saw a C-5M Super Galaxy undergoing Programmed Depot Maintenance in Dover AFB's newest hangar. This work keeps aircraft mission-ready and supports rapid global mobility for the United States.

Thank you to the 436th Airlift Wing for hosting Kent County leadership and for your continued partnership! 🇺🇸✈️

Help us celebrate August Employee of the Month: Paramedic Lieutenant Kenneth Kelly! 🎉

Kenny has been serving Kent County since 2013 and has worked his way through every paramedic rank with dedication and excellence. Today, he’s a standout leader in EMS — responding to emergencies, coordinating with hospitals and partner agencies, training field staff, supervising specialty teams, and leading our EMS SWAT Team with skill and confidence.

He’s also a statewide contributor to EMS education and a strong advocate for responder safety through community outreach like the “Move Over” campaign.

EMS Chief John Tinger says it best: “Lieutenant Kelly’s leadership, dedication, and passion for the profession have made a lasting impact on Kent County EMS.”

We’re proud to recognize Kenny for his outstanding service to our community. Congratulations, Kenny! 🌟👏
