On Friday, August 21, 2026, the Biosolids Capacity Upgrade Project celebrated a major milestone. Kent County Levy Court- Public Works Department – Wastewater Treatment Facilities staff participated in the "Topping-off Ceremony" symbolizing the building’s current and future progress. Prior to the last piece of structural steel being erected on the new building, staff was able to sign the steel member to commemorate the special occasion. This project will ensure the County’s compliance with state environmental regulations and continue reliable wastewater treatment for the residents of Kent County, Delaware.

Emergency crews are currently responding to **multiple calls following a reported tornado touchdown in Kent County.**

Residents are urged to **use extreme caution and avoid impacted areas** to allow emergency personnel to safely respond.

If you are in or near the affected area:

* Seek shelter immediately if severe weather continues.
* Stay away from downed power lines, damaged buildings, and debris.
* Do not enter impacted areas to sightsee.
* Call **911 only for life-threatening emergencies.**
