Mayor Genrich joined leaders from the Oneida Nation, city officials, and members of the Ted Fritsch Park Neighborhood Association on Friday afternoon to officially break ground on the new splashpad at Ted Fritsch Park.

This project represents a strong partnership between the City of Green Bay and the Oneida Nation to bring modern, interactive recreational amenities to the west side. Located directly east of the existing playground, the splashpad project also includes important stormwater management upgrades to improve drainage and site conditions across the park.

Special thanks to Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill, Parks Director Dan Ditscheit, Alder Kathy Hinkfuss, and Ted Fritsch Park Neighborhood Association President Randy Griswold for speaking at the ceremony, as well as the many neighborhood families who stayed to celebrate at the annual Back to School event.

Construction begins this fall, with the splashpad scheduled to open for public enjoyment next summer.

Alongside Brad Toll from Discover Green Bay, Mayor Genrich took part in a traditional maritime plaque exchange to commemorate the successful season. Plaque exchanges are naval and commercial shipping custom that celebrate goodwill and lasting partnership between a community and the ships that visit its harbor.

Great Lakes tourism brings thousands of visitors to local shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions each year. Thank you to American Cruise Lines and local tourism partners for continuing to make Green Bay a premier destination on the water.
