The rain didn’t stop us from honoring and paying tribute to the brave service members who defended our freedoms and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I had the privilege of attending Memorial Day ceremonies today with my son and State Representative Billy Buckbee in New Milford and with State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes at the American Legion Post 27. 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we hold dear come at a profound cost. We are forever grateful to those who have served and protected our country. We will never forget.

I had the pleasure of joining State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes to present a legislative citation to Hilary and Jorge Criollo, owners of Hopkins Vineyard, in honor of a truly remarkable achievement. Their 2024 “Heritage” Riesling was recently served to King Charles III at a White House State Dinner.

Congratulations to the entire Hopkins Vineyard family. You’ve made our district and the Northwest Corner proud!

This morning, Sen. Harding joined host Gary Byron on The Talk of Connecticut to discuss a proposed 11% electricity rate hike from one of Connecticut’s largest utility companies. The hardworking people in our state are already stretched thin. They shouldn’t have to worry about keeping the lights on.

During the 2026 Legislative Session, Senate Republicans put forward a proposal to eliminate Public Benefits Charges from your electric bill and lower electricity rates, but it was voted down on party lines. Connecticut residents deserve better. Listen to the interview to hear more.

Brookfield lost a true community hero this week. Glenn Martone dedicated many years of his life to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, serving as chief, president, and board member. He was someone who showed up, every single time, no matter the hour or the circumstances, for the people of this community. Glenn embodied what it truly means to serve.

To his wife, children, family and friends, and the entire Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I extend my deepest condolences to all of you.

Connecticut’s farmers need our support now!

Back in January, I stood alongside farmers from across our state at a press conference, hosted a Farmers Forum with my colleagues, and met with local farmers from the Northwest Corner to hear directly from the hardworking men and women who grow our food. The message was clear: Connecticut was failing its farmers, and we fought to change that.

I’m proud to share that legislation providing millions in dairy-related tax credits and grants, and a dedicated working group for the long-term future of dairy farming, has now passed both the House and the Senate.

“This is a strong first step for providing the necessary relief that these hard-working men and women deserve. For far too long, the farmers in this state have been forgotten. We do not eat, we do not survive without them.” (CT Insider)

I urge Governor Lamont to sign this bill. Connecticut’s dairy farmers have fed this state for generations. It’s time we support them in return.

🚔HONORING OUR POLICE

In honor of National Police Week, I want to take a moment to recognize the men and women who wear the badge and show up every single day for our communities. Your selflessness, dedication, and commitment to keeping people safe across our district and throughout Connecticut do not go unnoticed.

To our local officers, State Capitol Police, and Connecticut State Police, thank you for all that you do. We are grateful for your service, proud to stand by your side, and will continue to advocate for policies that provide the support and resources you deserve.

The 2026 Legislative Session is officially adjourned! To every resident of the 30th District who has trusted me to be your voice in Hartford, thank you. It is truly the honor of a lifetime to represent our incredible communities. Now comes the best part, getting back out into the district, connecting with all of you, attending community events and continuing to hear what matters most.

As always, if you have ideas, questions, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office at any time. I look forward to seeing you across the 30th District!

Happening Now: The debate over parental and educational rights for homeschool, private and parochial families.

H.B. 5468 is a bill that targets thousands of people who have shown up, spoken out, submitted testimony, and exercised their right to choose the type of education that’s best for their children, will be debated on the Senate floor. I will continue to fight and stand up for your parental and educational freedoms!

Today, the Senate voted on the state budget. Our senators offered a common-sense, fiscally responsible budget option that would provide $2.6 billion in tax relief to Connecticut residents over the next two years. This is a real plan that would put money back in your pocket. It was voted down on party lines by CT Democrats, who prefer to fund their partisan pet projects instead of giving money back to you!
