Happy Accreditation Day Today, 9 June 2026, the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy joins the world in commemorating World Accreditation Day 2026 under the theme: “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation.” As Namibia’s National Accreditation Focal Point for the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service (SADCAS), the Ministry recognizes the critical role accreditation plays in promoting confidence, quality and competence across industries and services.

Accreditation strengthens trust in products, services and systems by ensuring that testing, inspection, certification and laboratory services meet internationally recognized standards. It supports innovation, facilitates trade, enhances consumer protection and contributes to sustainable economic growth, helping to build a more competitive and resilient Namibia.

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy in collaboration with the Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT), the Namibian Standards Institution - NSI, and the World Trade Organization - WTO Secretariat yesterday participated in the National Workshop on the ePing SPS & TBT Platform held in Windhoek.

The workshop aims to strengthen Namibia’s trade competitiveness, regulatory transparency, and compliance with international standards.

Delivering the keynote statement on behalf of the Executive Director, was Mr. Tileinge Nghaamwa, who highlighted the importance of the initiative in improving market access and supporting exporters and regulators through enhanced coordination and technical capacity.

OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION: Managing Bulk Fuel Purchases & Security of Supply

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) has heard the concerns regarding recent temporary measures to curb fuel hoarding and panic buying.

The Ministry acknowledges that many Namibians require bulk fuel (drums and jerry cans) for legitimate farming, business, and operational activities. Therefore, the Minister has issued the following directives.

These measures are temporary (introduced for a three-month period) to prevent fuel hoarding and ensure that supply remains stable for all Namibians.

We urge all fuel wholesalers and retailers to educate their customers on these directives and support fellow Namibians truly in need of bulk fuel for their operations.
