Today, female officers from across the waterfront, including CDR Broome, CDR Makarenko, LCDR Fleming, LTJG Vickers, and LTJG Mason, joined a panel on leadership and life as women in the Navy. With Brazil recently introducing women to unrestricted line roles, their cadets joined us to learn from our experiences. We are honored to share insights, trade lessons, and support the next generation of female officers! 🇺🇸🇧🇷

We are thrilled to have our dedicated Ombudsman, Mrs. Justine Sandberg, continuing in her role! Her unwavering support and passion uplift our crew and families every day. Mrs. Sandberg’s commitment to our ship and community shines brightly, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing work she’ll continue to accomplish. Here’s to more strength, resilience, and unity in the journey ahead!

Mrs. Sandberg wanted to share one of her favorite quotes by Brené Brown: “When we’re looking for compassion, we need someone who is deeply rooted, able to bend, and, most of all, embraces us for our strengths and struggles.”

‼️Now set Condition of Readiness TWO no later than 1800 local time, Oct. 8, 2024.‼️

⛔️Once COR 2 is set at 1800, the base will shift to mission essential personnel only. Only personnel with a mission essential card or base resident card will be permitted on base.

🍕Pizza delivery guy is (unfortunately) NOT mission essential. 🥺

🚔At COR 2, only the Main Gate will be open for inbound and outbound traffic.

🚙🛻For your safety, please remain indoors and off the roads during this time. The storm could result in downed trees and power lines and put you at risk! Your presence on the road could also delay our emergency response and/or damage assessments.

🚫Consider most facilities closed on Wednesday and Thursday - to include Clinic, chapel, NEX (on and off base), Commissary, gyms, and restaurants.

🌊🏝️Our beach will close once COR 2 is set!

⛈️Expect to remain at COR 2 throughout Wednesday, Thursday and potentially into Friday. The base will not shift back to COR 5 automatically after the storm has passed until damage assessments and significant safety concerns have been addressed. Safety is our priority!

We’ll make every effort to provide timely updates on this page, so please stay tuned! Thank you!

Leading up to Hurricane Helene, worked late into the night to adjust a couple of our lines. Once the hurricane passed, we came together to connect our own shore power, ensuring operations were restored and the crew could head home to rest. Their hard work and motivation shown during these critical evolutions not only restored essential operations but also forged memories that will last a lifetime. We are proud of the crew's determination and unity!! ⚓💪
